Netflix has been the leading streaming service for years and has produced some of the most amazing shows on television. Here is our list of the top 10 Netflix original series from 2022.

1. The Witcher

The Witcher is a Polish-American fantasy drama series produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. It is based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, and follows Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

2. Stranger Things

Stranger Things is an American science fiction horror web television series created, written, and directed by the Duffer Brothers. The brothers serve as showrunners and are executive producers along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen. The first season premiered on Netflix on July 15, 2016, and the second season was released on October 27, 2017. The third season was released on July 4, 2019.

Set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, the first season focuses on the investigation into the disappearance of a young boy amid supernatural events occurring around the town, including the appearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities who helps the missing boy’s friends in their search. The second season is set a year later and deals with attempts to return to normal and consequences that linger from the first season. The third season is set several months after the second season and focuses on another supernatural event that affects Hawkins residents, as well as forces them to deal with threats from outsiders who are aware of Hawkins’ past.

This nostalgic sci-fi thriller set in 1983 tells the story of four kids who stumble upon a mysterious girl with superpowers called Eleven. They soon discover that she is being hunted by the government for unknown reasons. The show is exciting, heartwarming, and will leave you binge-watching for days.

3. 13 Reasons Why

13 Reasons Why, based on the 2007 novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, follows high school student Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returns home from school one day to find out that his classmate and crush Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) has committed suicide. He then listens to a set of cassette tapes she left behind in which she details thirteen reasons why she took her own life.

4. Big Mouth

Big Mouth is an American adult animated sitcom created by Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett. The first two seasons premiered on Netflix on September 29, 2017, while the third season was released on October 5, 2018. The fourth season was released on December 7, 2018.

5. Mindhunter

Mindhunter is an American crime drama web television series created by Joe Penhall, based on the true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker. The series revolves around two FBI agents, Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), who interview serial killers in order to understand how they think, with the hope of applying this knowledge to solving ongoing cases.

‘Mindhunter’ – This gripping crime drama follows two FBI agents (played by Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany) who interview some of America’s most notorious serial killers in an attempt to better understand their motivations. It’s a chilling, fascinating look at the minds of these killers that will have you hooked from start to finish.

6. Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones is an American superhero television series created for Netflix by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films and other television series of the franchise, and is the second in a planned series of shows that led to The Defenders crossover miniseries.

‘Jessica Jones’ – This dark superhero drama follows Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), a former superhero who now works as a private investigator. She’s dealing with her own demons, but she still puts her skills to good use when she takes on cases involving people with superpowers. It’s a gritty, realistic look at the superhero genre that is definitely worth checking out.

7. Narcos

Narcos is an American crime drama web television series created and produced by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro. Set and filmed in Colombia, seasons 1 and 2 tell the story of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar from the late 1970s through the early 1990s from the point of view of Steve Murphy, an American DEA agent sent to Colombia on a U.S. government mission to capture him. Narcos Season 3 expands to explore the illegal cocaine trade from the 1980s into the early 1990s by shifting its focus to various other criminal elements besides Escobar, while finishing off with accounts of Escobar’s fall.

‘Narcos’ – This crime drama chronicles the rise and fall of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. It’s a gritty, realistic portrayal of the drug war that will have you on the edge of your seat. Wagner Moura is outstanding as Escobar and Boyd Holbrook gives a career-best performance as DEA agent Steve Murphy.

8. Sense8

Sense8 is an American science fiction drama web television series created by Lana and Lilly Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski, who served as showrunner. The series was produced by the Wachowskis’ Anarchos Productions alongside Straczynski’s Studio JMS, and Dutch production company Georgeville Television. It premiered on Netflix on June 5, 2015. The second season of 12 episodes became available for streaming on May 5, 2017.[4] On June 1, 2017,[5] Netflix announced that it had canceled the series after two seasons.

9. The Crown

The Crown is a historical drama web television series created and written by Peter Morgan and produced by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television for Netflix. The first season, which consists of 10 episodes, was released on November 4, 2016. The second season, consisting of 10 episodes, was released on December 8, 2017. The third season, consisting of 10 episodes, was released on November 17, 2019.

‘The Crown’ – This critically-acclaimed drama chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II, played by Claire Foy in seasons one and two. The show is beautifully made, with stunning production values and strong performances all around. It’s a must-watch for any fan of British history or royalty.

10. Peaky Blinders

‘Peaky Blinders’ – This dark crime drama follows a notorious gang in post-World War 1 Birmingham, England. The show has a gripping storyline, excellent character development, and fantastic acting performances by Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby and Helen McCrory as Polly Gray. It’s one of the best shows on Netflix right now and definitely worth checking out.

‘Luke Cage’ – This Marvel superhero drama follows Luke Cage (Mike Colter), a man with unbreakable skin who is trying to rebuild his life in Harlem. He’s eventually drawn into a conflict with a powerful crime lord, and he must use his abilities to protect his community. It’s an exciting, action-packed show that is well worth watching.

‘The Get Down’ – This musical drama chronicles the rise of hip-hop in the South Bronx in the late 1970s. It’s an incredibly vibrant show with amazing music, dancing, and acting performances. It’s a must-watch for any fan of hip-hop or musicals.

 ‘The OA‘ – This mind-bending sci-fi drama follows Prairie Johnson (Brit Marling), a blind woman who mysteriously regains her sight. She then sets out on a journey to find seven other people who have also had similar experiences. It’s a fascinating, enigmatic show that is sure to leave you guessing until the very end.

GLOW’ – This comedy-drama chronicles the rise of the 1980s all-female wrestling league known as the GLOW. It’s an incredibly fun show with great characters and plenty of laughs. If you’re looking for a lighthearted, feel-good series, this is definitely the one for you.
