The old SAT consisted of two sections: the reading portion, which had 52 multiple-choice questions on passages from different subjects, and the writing section, which consisted of correction of sentences. Each section was timed separately, so taking the test several times can make it more difficult and take longer.

SAT breaks

The SAT test lasts three hours and 45 minutes, and there are breaks between sections. The first break is about ten minutes, scheduled between the Reading and Writing sections. The second break occurs between the two maths sections and lasts about an hour. There is also a two-minute break for the optional essay section.
